VAPORESSO LUXE X PRO Review: The Next-Gen LUXE X!

Product intro and specs
The VAPORESSO LUXE X PRO is the latest AIO/pod system by VAPORESSO. VAPORESSO at this point is one of the most popular and trusted brands in vaping, releasing solid products across multiple categories. The LUXE Q2 and Q2 SE were great performers, so we’ll see if they can keep it up with the next generation of the LUXE X line.

The LUXE X PRO is a pod vape that serves as an update to the LUXE X and the LUXE XR, both of which I reviewed last year. Its internal battery is listed at 1500 mAh and comes with new pods that have a massive 5 mL capacity. The coils are built-in in the new pods, but the XR-compatible pods still offer replaceable GTX coil options.

Build quality and design

The LUXE X PRO is a rectangular device that is relatively large as far as pods go. Its footprint is comparable to a small vape mod. It is larger than a traditional MTL pod system due to the battery size and the high wattage output. It’s got some weight to it (100 grams) and feels sturdy and durable.

The front panel has clear sides, which accentuate the color, but the chip is not visible. Just like the previous version (the XR,) colors are full-body minus a small part (the clear sides with accent colors.) I’d say that the design is a mixture of classic and modern. They offer a total of seven colors. I got the blue one, and I have no color-chipping issues with mine, which is good.

There are three buttons on this device; one is the main physical button above the screen, which acts as a fire button and an on/off button. There are also up and down physical buttons right below the screen. The screen is a basic black-and-white screen with wattage, a puff counter, and a battery meter with percentages. All in all, it’s a well-built and good-looking device.

Getting started

The LUXE X PRO is a semi-advanced pod system built for DL vaping, but it can be used for MTL vaping with other compatible coils. It’s less advanced than the XR MAX I reviewed in April but more advanced than a basic pod system.

Here’s a breakdown of basic usage:

·Press the fire button five times to turn on/off.
·Press fire and down to reset the puff counter.
·Press fire and up to turn smart mode on/off.
·Press fire three times to lock the device.

Smart mode makes it so you can’t overpower the coils, and adjustments are made with the up and down arrows while the device is on and unlocked.

The device comes with two new pods with built-in coils, one mesh 0.4 ohm and one mesh 0.6 ohm, both made for DL vaping. As for compatible options, there are two pods in the XR line (MTL and DL) with five coil options, ranging from 0.4 ohm to 1.2 ohm. You can read more about these pods and coil in the performance section of my LUXE XR MAX review.

There is also an air slider on the side so you can adjust from a medium MTL to a DL vape. For the included coils, I found having the airflow halfway open was the best.

Filling the pod is easy. Once the pod is out, you remove a little black rubber plug on the bottom to expose the fill hole. The pod is pretty much fully visible (about 75%,) but it is hard to see the juice level at times due to the tint. I really don’t know why that’s so common when clear pods are much better for use. When running low, you have to slant the device to see if any juice is left on the bottom, but that’s because it’s covered (not because of the tint.) Overall, though, I’m very happy with the usage of the device outside of the tinted pods.

Performance

Coil performance is what really makes or breaks a device. I’ve reviewed quite a few devices in this line, so I have tried many coils, with the MTL ones performing best for me. This device comes with two options, both for DL vaping. A 0.4-ohm coil, which I found best at 32 watts, and a 0.6-ohm coil, which I found best at 26 watts.

I always feel like these low-power DL coils don’t pack enough punch to really be DL for me. But both coils do a good job of providing solid flavor and coil life. I preferred the slightly more powerful 0.4-ohm coil. Still, after using so many of these, I think the best vape on these devices comes from the MTL pod with the 0.8 and the 1.2-ohm mesh coils, which aren’t included but are compatible. If 30-watt DL vaping is your preference, though, you’ll enjoy this.

Battery life and charging

Most people would get a full day’s worth of vaping out of this device when using it in MTL. As a DL vape though, you’ll probably need to charge it during the day.
The internal battery is listed at 1500 mAh and they list the charge rate at 1.5A. The port is USB-C and it’s located at the bottom of the device, so it has to lay down while charging. Not a big deal, but I prefer vapes that can stand up while charging.

I tested their ratings, and for max charge rate I got 1.31A, so it’s a little overrated there but fair since most round up. I found 1.5A to be acceptable. For charge time, it’s about 77 minutes, so a little long for a pod system since most of the faster ones charge in about an hour. But considering the battery capacity, it’s understandable. For battery size, I got around 1340 mAh, so I consider it a bit overrated but better than most of the ratings I see. Most devices are rated about 20% higher than you actually get, so I expected around 1200 mAh and this exceeded that.

When you plug in the device, it starts counting backward from 60 minutes. It read as full at about 1200 mAh and 54 minutes but continued to charge until it finished at 77 minutes and 1340 mAh. So leave it charging after it says it’s full, for a real full charge. It does have passthrough vaping as well, which is practically necessary at this point.

Verdict
Overall, VAPORESSO did a great job with this device. They took the LUXE X/XR and added some great features, like airflow adjustment and a screen. In many ways, this feels like a LUXE XR MAX lite.

Battery life is good, and it has enough power to give a solid DL vape, which makes it a good on-the-go device without being too big. If you like this wattage range, you’ll love it. I personally prefer it as an MTL vape, and thankfully, there are compatible pods and coils for this vaping style.
