One of the most frequent questions when it comes to vaping is what is the difference between the coil resistances. Although it is the most replaced part of a vape device and the most vital one when it comes to flavour and vapour production, many vapers still don't know what the difference is.
We will break it down for you.
When you buy your OHM GO Kit (which is perfect if you're looking to stop smoking), it will contain two different coil resistances inside your kit: 0.5 Ohm which comes inside the tank and a spare 1.0 Ohm. The lower the resistance, the more power your coil will receive from your vaping device.
0.5 Portal coil resistance
Our 0.5 Ohm coil is made for those who enjoy flavour and cloud production. A 0.5 Ohm resistance means more power delivered to your coil, which will result in more flavour and significant vapour production. As more liquid will be burnt with this coil, it is recommended with lower levels of nicotine, so you don't risk inhaling more nicotine than you should do. It is also recommended for those who are adept to the direct to lung vaping style. This type of coil is perfect for e-liquids with a higher VG volume (70/30, 80/20) / low nicotine strengths.
1.0 Portal coil resistance
The 1.0 Ohm coil which comes with your OHM GO kit is recommended for those who are looking for a mouth to lung style, which is the traditional style that cigarette smokers are adapted. It has a higher resistance, meaning that the clouds won't be as big as if you were using the 0.5 Ohm, but will still deliver an outstanding amount of flavour. It is recommended for higher nicotine concentration e-liquids. As the power delivered to the coil is inferior, that also means your e-liquid bottle will last longer!
Priming your coil
Always remember that when using a new coil, it has to be primed. Priming a coil is easy: insert the coil in your vape tank and fill your tank with your favourite Apollo E-juice. Let it sit aside for 15 minutes, so the coil can absorb as much e-liquid as it can, so the power delivered to it won't burn the cotton, just your e-liquid. Simple, enjoy great clouds!
When should I change my coils?
Our Portal coils have a high lifespan, but as every coil, they will eventually need replacement. When the time comes, you will taste a burnt flavour when inhaling. That happens because the cotton on your coil is burnt. It also depends on the e-juice you're vaping: the sweeter, the less the coil will last.
